Kitchen Inspiration for 2018

As a Philadelphia interior designer, I field more questions about kitchen design than just about any other room.  It’s known as the heart of the home, and if you’re like many people, you’ve probably spent a LOT of time in the kitchen over the last couple of months prepping for holiday parties and meals.  Are you in the mood for a change?  January is the perfect time to find some inspiration!

Organization

Let’s be honest; organization is probably the most key element in any kitchen.  It’s a functional room, and an efficient layout will save time and sanity!  When we design kitchens, we tailor them to the needs of our clients.  Marrying beauty and function is important in creating a kitchen you love.  One of our favorite projects right now features potato and onion storage!

Kitchen Surfaces

These are the unsung heroes of the kitchen.  Think about it – we use them for everything, like storing everyday appliances, unpacking groceries, and prepping and serving meals.  Countertops and islands need to be both durable and attractive, and there are many options ranging from wood and glass to granite and quartz.  The choices can be overwhelming, but we’ll help you select the perfect surface for you and your needs.

Entertaining

Maybe it’s the proximity to the food and beverages, but it seems like guests often gravitate to the kitchen.  With options like under-counter wine fridges, bar nooks, and sinks that convert to coolers for wine and cheese, you’ll always have a fun crowd hanging out around your island or grabbing a seat at the breakfast bar.

Kitchen Trends

Gold and brass are back and we’re all for mixing their warmth in with stainless steel!  Another trend that we love is taking islands to the next level with warming drawers, hidden storage (check out this amazing toe kick stool!), touch open cabinetry panels, seating, and electrical outlets.
