Stone on Stone: GSID Gathers With Global Experts on Surfaces, Style and Sustainability

For Glenna and the GSID team, mastery of the products and finishes they select for your homes is paramount. Their deep research, knowledge and understanding of the subtle distinctions in construction, applications, technology and sustainability mean they can specify what’s best for your home and for your personal preferences and values. It’s a difference that makes a difference.

To C what’s Next

At the forefront of what is known in our industry as surfaces, Glenna participated in a small master group summit, C. Next, presented by a number of leading luxury brands including Cosentino and Hearst Publications. C. Next is the premier platform where experts discuss all aspects of design plus new developments in surface products used for everything from countertops to commercial building exteriors. If immersion was the intent, the goal was met, according to Glenna.

“Taking the pulse of the industry and going deep with experts on all manner of design, product and environmental topics is imperative to being the best design firm. Engaging with experts, continually adding to our knowledge builds trust with our clients,” Glenna noted. What she did not say, but we will, is that GSID’s reputation in the design world is what brought them the opportunity to be included in this elite-level education.

Home Is Not Just Where You Are, It’s What You Are

Panel of experts and guiding lights in the emotion of design

Focusing on sustainability was, as expected, a hot topic and integral to the entire summit. Known for their ecosphere of sustainability, family-owned Cosentino puts their commitment to the betterment of the physical and human environment front and center.

Another expert panel teased out how designers infuse meaning and emotion into homes, distilling clients’ feelings, history and memories into a space that is personal, filled with their stories and ultimately evolves over time.

These two discussions were particularly topical for Glenna as she said, “They reinforced GSID’s mission and style statements that express how we make that emotional connection between homeowner and home.  Plus, we believe it is our responsibility as design professionals to advance sustainability by our vendors, tradespeople and other partners, and to help clients uphold their personal values around sustainability.”

Viviendo La Buena Vida

Lest you think, dear reader, that all was deep thinking and scholarly discussion, we should mention that C. Next was held in Cabo San Lucas and presented by brands steeped in the art of aesthetics and luxury. Translated, that means beauty was honored at every turn, hospitality was as abundant as the sunshine, and field trips included actual trips to a field—Flora Farm’s working organic farm, restaurant, shoppes and culinary cottages.
