Autumn essentials for every home

As we get ready to turn that calendar page to October, it’s time to bid farewell to the last bit of summer.  With that in mind, we’ve got five autumn essentials for your home to help you welcome the new season in style!

Five autumn essentials you need this year

Wreath – Dress up your front door for fall and add a pop of curb appeal with a beautiful wreath.  Whether you opt for traditional autumn leaves or mix it up with flowers and herbs, it will be a cheerful welcome when you come home!

Doormat – Crunchy leaves, dewy mornings, and cute rainboots are picturesque, but let’s be honest – that can also be a messy combo.  Keep the outdoors where it belongs by getting a quality doormat.  Coconut and coir mats are eco-friendly (and compostable!) and great for getting mud off your shoes.  Rubber doormats are low-maintenance, easy to clean, and work really well if your front step is exposed to the elements.

Boot tray – Speaking of boots, a boot tray is definitely high on the list of autumn essentials.  It’s the perfect spot to corral wet or muddy footwear.  As a bonus, you’ll always know where your boots are when you need them!  (This is even more handy when the snow starts to fall, but let’s not think about that yet.)

Centerpieces – Centerpieces are the perfect way to bring fall vibes indoors.  We love a low arrangement in the dining room and a fun grouping on your mantel or console table.  Cheerful autumn flowers like mums and dahlias brighten up a room in an instant!

Scented candles – Did you know that studies have shown that our sense of smell is most strongly linked to memory?  It’s why you can catch a whiff of cinnamon and instantly remember helping your mother bake pies when you were young.  Many scents are comforting, and certain candles evoke autumn coziness and warmth.  Some people like hints of pumpkin or apple, while others prefer woodsy scents.  M&J London’s “Celtic Fire” has  layers of pine, peat, and cedar that bring to mind nights by a fire with a good drink and good friends.
