Beat the winter blues
The presents are opened, the champagne is gone, and spring seems far away. We’re here to help you beat the winter blues by making your home into a cozy retreat!
Our tips for heading off those post-holiday winter blues
Go green
Honestly, this is one of the easiest ways to ward off the winter doldrums. Adding a plant in a pretty container to your vanity or treating yourself to fresh flowers on your bedside table once a week helps you to feel grounded and connected to nature, even when it’s bare and bleak outside.
Get cozy
Winter means a lot of time indoors for most of us, so use that to your advantage. It’s the perfect opportunity to carve out some downtime and tackle that pile of books (or Kindle queue). Create a cozy spot with a comfortable seat, a luxe throw, and a side table for coffee or tea.
Bring in color
Bringing a pop of color into a space is a really easy way to give it a boost. Whether you want to add a brightly colored side table or fun patterned pillows in the family room, a dash of something bright will lift your mood instantly.
Switch it up
Consider giving your home a mini refresh for the season by updating framed photos – especially if you just got new ones for the holidays – or relocating decor from one room to another. Our Washington Square client absolutely loves her Buddha, but he previously “lived” in a spot on the floor. We moved him to the sideboard in the dining room and the whole mood changed. It’s as though he was always meant to be there!
