Behind the scenes at our new design studio!
Now that we’ve been in our showroom and design studio for three months, we’re settled in and loving it. The big reveal is coming next month, but in the meantime, we want show you a few peeks at our studio! This is where the day-to-day design work happens.
What, exactly, goes on in an interior design studio?
A lot of people have a vague idea of what goes on behind the scenes of interior design. You might guess that it’s a very glamorous scene with fabric and tile and beautiful drawings, and part of that is right! The heart of our studio is the library. This is where we house hundreds of fabric and wallcovering swatches, dozens of rug samples, and numerous bins of tile and stone. The trick to having an efficient design process starts with a well-organized library.
Organization allows us to pull together mood boards and layouts for our interior design clients with ease, but it’s also hard work to keep it that way. (Filing can be tedious no matter what the industry.) We designed our library to be both functional and beautiful. While it’s important to have options close at hand, we also want clear workspaces. Closed cabinetry keeps materials out of view and pretty bins hold samples in open shelving. Last but not least, fabrics hang from rods for easy accessibility. Everything is at our fingertips but still neat and orderly!
Our conference room serves as a place for meetings, both internally and with clients and vendors. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by someone from our friendly team and offered the beverage of your choice. We also have a rotating selection of snacks on offer in jars. Currently on deck: healthy cashews and almonds or not-so-healthy Swedish fish and Sourpatch Kids. Our large conference table allows for us to present the many finishes to clients. Here, we also draw and sketch concepts during our meetings as projects evolve and phases progress. A large screen TV allows us to cast from a laptop so that we can review elevations, fixtures, and furnishings in a group setting. Thoughtful selections in furniture, lighting, and even the walls and floors create an inviting space for productive conversation!
