Black-owned decor and home goods retailers to shop now

We’ve shared some favorite Black-owned home goods brands before, and we’re back with even more Black-owned decor and home goods retailers you should shop now.  Whether your tastes run to funky artisan pottery or luxe glassware, these artisans and sellers have your beautiful home needs covered.  Get ready to treat yourself (and tuck away a few gift ideas for the future)!

Karen Jai Home

Upscale retailer Karen Jai Home has everything from furniture and lighting to candles and bath and body products.  Luxurious decor and accessories (like the fabulous Mahuma vases in our header photo!) elevate your shelfies.  Practicality meets beauty in the Padua basket, turning a tabletop staple into art.  Do you prefer the black or gold?  Why choose?

Effortless Composition

The wood chain link from Effortless Composition has become one of the most-loved items on home decor Instagram feeds.  It’s easy to see why this organic, sculpted piece would gain such an enthusiastic following.  Textured and fluid, it that layers beautifully on tables, shelves, and dressers.  The site also offers vintage and found pillows, thoughfully crafted ceramics, and elegant candleholders to add pizazz to your home.  Our number one tip?  If something is available, grab it while you can!

54kibo

Named for the highest summit in Africa (the peak atop Mt. Kilimanjaro) and the 54 countries spanning the continent, NYC-based 54kibo is committed to sharing contemporary  design from Africa and the African diaspora with the world.  From linens woven in Tunisia to tables carved in Ghana, the site is a feast for lovers of beautiful, handcrafted design.  The Landmark Gingerbread House place mats are made by Haitian artist Yael et Valerie and evoke feelings of eating breakfast on a wide porch with the scent of morning sea breezes in the air.  We’re particularly drawn to the punch of turquoise, although the design is available in multiple colors.  We recommend buying these for your beach house!

Another great follow on Instagram, Diana Adams’ small batch pottery studio also offers one-of-a-kind fabric collages and unique jewelry.  A word to the wise: her new product drops are scooped up almost instantly, so sign up for her newsletter to stay ahead of the game.  Thrown and sculpted planters, candle holders, and vessels have an organic, earthy feel.  Adams’ commitment to using scraps and marketing samples from the interior design industry sets her apart, and we particularly love her lidded jars with their reclaimed leather loops.

Estelle Colored Glass

Stephanie Summerson Hall named her luxury glassware company after her beloved grandmother, who collected colored glass pieces that stole the show at Sunday dinners.  Inspired by that foundation, Hall imports ethereal hand-blown stemware and cake stands to add a touch of elegance to your table.  Elevate meals and celebrations by adding pieces to your own collection.  The mixed sets span the rainbow for a fun effect, while delicate coupes evoke the Gatsby age.  Throw yourself a tea party by arranging pretty desserts on a stunning cake stand – the cobalt is so lovely!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this look at more talented and stylish Black decor and home goods retailers and makers, and that you’ll treat yourself (or someone special)!
