Personal Spaces Transformed in Dramatic Re-do of Bryn Mawr Home

Last month, we introduced you to our most recent Bryn Mawr stunner. You toured through the first floor renovations that transformed this home from a standard traditional home to a refreshed and updated space with tons of modern appeal.

Quick reminder: we had the pleasure of working with this family on their previous home. They came to us again as they considered moving to better accommodate the latest chapter in their family story. Rather than downsizing, the couple chose a home with plenty of potential to provide space for their now grown children and the couple’s numerous endeavors.

Report to the Office

One of two offices in the home. This upstairs hideaway serves the homeowner’s business needs and also boasts a relaxing seating area.
Inspiration requires reflection. We created a seating area to contemplate the biggest ideas and hone in on the small details.

Anything is possible. When it came to creating additional office space on the second floor, we leaned in to that mantra. Consulting with our creative partners, Krieger Architects and builder, E. B. Mahoney, we extended the 2nd floor into what was originally part of the two-story entry, creating office space out of thin air, literally.

Contemporary, airy and balanced are the buzz words for the new powder room.

Guests are dazzled by the modern oasis bathroom. The rift cut oak vanity we designed grounds the room in an organic, warm feel. The fixtures, lighting and tile tell a decidedly contemporary story.

Primary Pizzazz

Art or tech? We say, why not both? The master cabinetmaker’s artistry provides the physical housing and visual beauty into which a TV can look like art.

Our homeowners never blinked when we created a number of bold moments throughout the house, including this one in the sitting area of their primary suite. Loads of interesting millwork, including this custom built-in that accommodates their TV, add to the layered and textured feel in this space.

A vaulted ceiling, open chandelier and full-height windows bring breathability and light the homeowners requested for their bedroom.

And, if you wondered about the shower that we showcased at the top of this story, it connects the matching his and hers bathrooms creating a sumptuous ensuite for the primary enclave.

We chose rift-cut wood for its vertical striations in the contemporary floating vanity.

Admire, if you will, the eye-popping stone we used to top the vanities. That amount of distinct veining is not for everyone but this couple went all in for dazzling details like this. Combined with the moody charcoal tile covering every inch of their expansive shared shower, the resort-worthy bathroom is every bit what the homeowners dreamed of and more.

What’s your dream space? Let us know in the comments below. And remember, anything is possible.
