Calming spaces at home

Restful, calming spaces at home have become more important than ever over the past few years.  While we’ve always believed that your home is a sanctuary, feeling completely comfortable and in tune with your surroundings is even more of a priority for our clients now.  We tailor these areas to fit with what our clients need most, which makes each design unique!

Creating calming spaces

The key goal when designing a space with the goal of relaxation and comfort is always achieved by asking, “what does the client need?”  Everyone is different.  For example, some people prefer to unwind with a long run while others follow a daily yoga practice.  Rather than fitting you into a space, we craft the space around you.

Our West Chester breakfast room, with it’s view of the beautifully landscaped backyard and pool, is a favorite spot for our clients.  Its round table offers a casual, intimate spot for morning coffee while preparing for the day and enjoying the flood of natural light through the sliding glass doors.  The neutral palette creates a fresh and airy vibe.

At the end of the day, unwinding is a priority.  We focused on soft textures and finishes with a hint of luxury in our Wynnewood bedroom to allow for a sense of calm and quiet.  Every element, from the wallcovering and rug to the bedding and window treatments, was selected with this in mind.  This softness contributes to a mood of total relaxation, which is exactly what you should feel before you go to sleep!

Dedicated home offices have gained popularity over the past few years, and aren’t simply a place to sit and work.  Our Washington Square West client needed her space to offer a comfortable spot to catch up on reading or take a short break during the day.  Here, layered neutrals give a peaceful, inviting vibe while the delicate floral wallpaper adds an almost secret-garden feeling.  We love to imagine tucking our legs up on the sofa, under a throw with a cup of tea and a good book on a rainy afternoon.

For our Graduate Hospital clients, two specific hobbies informed the design of the den: photography and music.  They can stretch out on the cozy gray sofa and listen to their treasured collection of vinyl albums while relaxing in a laid-back space that’s modern without being austere.  We again used layers of texture and pattern to soften, and created a gallery wall of their own black and white photography to add another uniquely personal element to the room.
