Crushing on caning

Texture is so on trend in design, and one of our favorite ways to bring texture into a space is caning.  From seating to case goods, adding a dash of this woven finish adds a natural, handmade, and elegant touch!

Where to add caning

The trick to adding caning to a room?  Subtlety.  Too much and you risk a 1970s vibe (and not in a good way).  Not enough and you lose the visual interest.  We’ve rounded up some of our favorite pieces that strike just the right balance.

Living room

A pair of cane lounge chairs makes a lovely conversation area in your living or family room.  Keep it refined with classic brown wood and neutral cushions, which will allow you to accent with cool throw pillows or a unique side table.

Office

Whether in a home office or at your place of business, we believe in tailoring your workspace to suit you.  This includes furnishings with personality!  Thoughtful touches like understated cane detailing and modern pulls on drawer fronts take a desk from utilitarian to inspired.

Dining room

When it comes to the dining room, think outside the box a bit with a modern gray hue.  Use one to anchor either end of an oval or rectangular table, or add a few to your kitchen banquette.  Gray is a fantastic neutral that works beautifully with a spectrum of colors!

Screen porch or sunroom

For a more casual and lounge-y mood, we love two-tone pieces.  With a white frame and natural caned panels at the back inside, this is a sofa that invites you to sit and stay a while.  The airy design makes it a perfect choice for a polished yet welcoming look with the addition of a throw and some oversized pillows.

Bedroom

Another great space for contrasting pieces?  The bedroom.  By adding caning detail to a four-poster bed, the design goes from traditional to relaxed.  With luxe bed linens, a serene color palette, and soft lighting, you’ll feel like you’re on vacation every night.

Is caning for you?  We’d love to talk about bringing it into your space!
