Design details: Boutique paints

We’re not shy about our love of wallpaper, but boutique paints have captured our imaginations when it comes to creating elevated and beautiful spaces!  What sets “boutique” or “luxury” paints apart?  Their colors are rich, nuanced, and thoughtfully created, while the formulas themselves are eco-friendly.  Color sets the mood for a space, especially on walls, which makes selecting the perfect shade so important.  Whether you want a quiet wash of the ideal gray or a bold primary pop, these three brands are changing the paint game.

Three fab boutique paint brands

Farrow & Ball

The most well-known of the list is England’s Farrow & Ball, founded in the 1930s.  F&B’s colors draw from history and nature; in fact, the new Colour by Nature collection was developed in a collaboration with the Natural History Museum.  We love the perfect neutral tone of Drop Cloth for any space!

Portola

L.A.- based Portola is a family owned operation dedicated to crafting small batches of environmentally conscious paints along with their proprietary Lime Wash and Roman Clay finishes.  The New Standard collection is broken in volumes 1 (neutrals) and 2 (colors), making it easy to find the perfect shade.  Follow their Instagram for photos and inspiring mood boards!

Clare

Interior designer Nicole Gibbons founded Clare with a carefully curated palette of colors to create a less complicated selection process.  In addition, the zero VOC and Greenguard certified paints are created with a focus on sustainability.  With playful names like Avocado Toast, Seize the Gray, and Make Waves, Clare’s paints remind you to have fun when it comes to your home.
