Easing pain points at home

As summer winds to a close, many of us have spent the past several months feeling the pain points in our homes.  What do we mean by that?  Essentially, you’ve discovered what isn’t working for you.  Some of these things may have been a bit of a distraction, but not a glaring issue while you were in and out of the house.  Now, with more people based at home, those little annoyances have really started to chafe.  The good news is that we’re here to help!

Pain points at home – what are the most common issues?

Every home is unique, and the needs that our homes serve are as varied as we are.  For instance, someone who loves to cook views a kitchen much differently from someone who prefers takeout and wants a spot to make smoothies, salads, and coffee.  However, we’re hearing some common pain points from our clients and prospective clients.  Let’s talk about those!

Kitchen

Since we led with kitchens, we’ll start there.  We’re all using our kitchens more frequently now, even if we do grab takeout or pack a picnic for the park with our families.  The little ineffiencies – not enough counter space for food prep, an awkward pantry that doesn’t allow you to organize staples well, or the dreaded storage container avalanche that crashes down from an overhead cabinet – have become big sources of aggravation.  A kitchen renovation isn’t a quick project and takes a lot of forethought and detail.  Luckily, you’ve got a head start on those considerations by identifying what isn’t working for you anymore.  Listing these out gives us the perfect jumping off point to focus on your must haves and priorities.  For instance, our Lafayette Hill client wanted banquette seating, more storage, and a larger island.  We delivered all of that in the existing footprint and now she loves her kitchen!

Home office

With many businesses continuing a full or part-time work from home schedule (including GSID), you might be feeling the pinch of that hastily-assembled home office space you cobbled together in March.  You can only make a folding chair work for so long, and you need a place to keep your pens, notes, mouse, etc.  Otherwise, you’re shifting a pile of work-related items from point A to point B and it creates a feeling of chaos.  We can help you designate a space and outfit it to serve your needs while looking neat, organized, and stylish.  Don’t forget a polished Zoom background, whether it’s a neatly styled bookshelf or a single piece of art.  Even a fresh coat of paint can work wonders.  The most important thing is being able to walk away and turn off work mode.  For our Center City clients, we turned the smallest bedroom into a chic, light-filled office.  A custom filing cabinet just out of frame provides storage and corrals clutter.

Laundry room

We don’t know about you, but sometimes we feel like we live in the laundry room.  How many bath, hand, and dish towels can one household cycle through in a week?  Never mind work clothes, loungewear, workout gear, and pajamas.  Now we’ve added cloth masks to the mix (and it looks like they’ll be here to stay for a while).  Our solution?  Let’s figure out a way to streamline and organize your laundry space, and make it look fabulous while we’re at it.  In Wyndmoor, shelving, surfaces, and cabinetry assure that everything is at our clients’ fingertips and tucked neatly away when not in use.
