Gladwyne pool house

Summer is only weeks away, and we’ve been busy designing a new Gladwyne pool house for our clients to enjoy this year!  This is a really cool project.  This project allows us to extend our clients’ indoor aesthetic to a fun outdoor entertaining and comfort space that has been underutilized for some time.  The result will give the homeowner the seamless indoor-outdoor functionality they’ve been missing.

A pool house makeover

First, the existing pool house was being used for storage.  We knew that with a lot of smart design and love, it could be fabulous.

Before

To create the perfect pool house, we asked the client for their must-haves.  Naturally, they center around a love of casual hosting! A custom kitchenette has generous counter space as well as undercounter refrigerator and freezer drawers for drinks and snacks.  Hooks for guests to hang towels, bags, and other belongings will come in handy, along with storage for pool toys and swimming goggles.  Next, a built in laundry bin for used towels makes it easy to round them up. Finally, we created a loft to store outdoor cushions during bad weather and throughout the winter months.

As for the aesthetics of the design, the client asked for a classic black and white palette.  To mix it up, we selected a fun hex tile for the floor.  Wood tones will bring contrasting warmth to the black and white with a stained tongue and groove ceiling along with wood in the wraparound bench by the storage cubbies.   We’re also leaving the exposed brick (pictured in the “before” photo) to add visual texture, along with shiplap on the walls in the kitchenette and storage area.
