High Point Market Fall 2019

With a snap of the fingers, High Point Market Fall 2019 is in the books.  It was certainly a whirlwind, but also an amazing trip and now we’re back with our favorite trends!

High Point Market Fall 2019 – Trends we love

Color

The love affair with color continues, with even more deep shades of forest green and soft blush pinks.  Blue remains strong, ranging from dark to bright.  Combining colors through patterns and layers creates depth and visual interest.  I attended the High Point Designer Showhouse and everything, and I mean everything, was layers of pattern, color, and materials.  It was information overload in the best way possible!

Warm woods

In keeping with a pivot from neutrals, I noticed the emergence of more warm woods and fewer cool tones.  The warmth creates an inviting, touchable feeling while interesting finishes and textures add an updated look.  I really saw a dramatic shift to warmer tones this market, yet most of these warmer wood tones still hold a slight underlying hint of gray.

Brass and black metal

Speaking of warmth, the glow of brass still shines in lighting, hardware, and accents (and remains near and dear to our hearts!).  For those who prefer a more modern/industrial style, black metal options continue to expand.  We really love a combination of the two, especially with a more traditional silhouette.  Hudson Valley Lighting adds a fresh, updated feel to the classic lantern style by pairing black and brass.

Plaid

We talked about plaid recently, and various iterations of the classic pattern appeared in several showrooms.  I’m really loving larger scale windowpane plaids for an updated yet still timeless feeling.  This navy throw pillow is a twist on this particular style, but plaid wasn’t just contained to accents.  Upholstery, rugs, and wallpaper are all mad for plaid as well!

Caning, wicker, and natural materials

The real standouts at Market by far were natural materials.  Wicker, rope, rattan, and caning were everywhere: lighting, accents, furniture, and more.  Rope wrapped tables?  Check.  Woven rattan headboards?  Check.  Wicker pendants and chandliers?  Check and check.  This natural trend has moved from the outdoors to the indoors in a big way, and it’s a game changer for every space in your home.
