Gift Guide: The best housewarming gifts that are sure to impress!

Housewarming gifts are so much fun to give.  There’s something really special about celebrating a new home, and I love splurging a little on gifts that will be loved and used for years to come.  Here are some personal favorites at our Philadelphia interior design firm that will be a hit whether the recipient is in their first place or has moved into their forever home!

Housewarming gifts: our go to gift guide

Simon Pearce Barre bowl

The handblown Barre bowl’s asymmetrical shape makes it special enough to become a favorite, and can hold everything from fruit on the kitchen table to tortilla chips for a game night.  Trust me, you can never have enough serving bowls!  This elegant design comes in four sizes and is beautifully gift boxed, so it’s a win all around.

Zestt herringbone throw

When it comes to soft and cozy, a well-made throw blanket is always a welcome housewarming gift.  Handy for Netflix marathons on the couch, an extra layer on the guest bed, floor picnics…whatever the use, you can’t go wrong with a perfect throw.  Zestt’s organic cotton herringbone throw comes in a variety of colors, is machine washable, and won’t aggravate allergies like wool or mohair.

Brooklyn Slate Co cheese board kit

Proving that not all cheese boards are created equal, this cheese board starter kit even comes with soapstone pencils so you can label the gouda, camembert, and gorgonzola.  Brooklyn Slate Co offers a variety of sizes and a monogram option, and includes a “cheese survival guide” for beginners.  Pair it with a bottle of wine to win “best housewarming gifter” of the year.

Pineapple on Main belly basket

Baskets are the most versatile decor accent in any home, and a chic basket marries style and usefulness.  The leather handles add a refined touch, while the silhouette of the belly basket is eye-catching and fun.  It also comes in three colors!  Most importantly, this basket works in almost any space in your home.  Some of our favorite ways to use a great basket:

  • Corral shoes inside the door
  • Keep guest towels prettily displayed
  • Disguise a utilitarian planter (just make sure you have a dish inside for drainage!)
  • Hold firewood for those chilly winter nights
  • Provide a home for waiting-to-be-read books and magazines in the bedroom or living room

Rikumo glass carafe set

Upgrade the new homeowner from a plastic water bottle on the nightstand with a gorgeous Toyo Sasaki carafe set.  Philadelphia boutique Rikumo stocks this minimalist Tokyo-made set in both clear and smoke glass.  Even better, the clever design allows the glass to sit upside down on top of the carafe when not in use.  That makes it perfect for smaller kitchens, guest bedrooms, and patio tables.  You might want one for yourself, too!

Bonus pick: Anthropologie coasters

Coasters are always a great housewarming gift.  They protect your tables and nightstands from scuffs, condensation, and rings.  The Celestial coaster set from Anthropologie (shown in the header pic) comes in several colors and looks gorgeous in any setting!
