How to spruce up your powder room
A powder room is an interesting space, because it’s one of the smallest in your home but also seen most by visitors. If you’re wondering how to spruce yours up in the new year, we have tips for you!
Lighting
Swapping out a basic globe fixture for a modern pendant or elegant chandelier instantly adds an elevated touch. Although powder rooms have a smaller footprint, it’s always a good idea to have two light sources if possible; both overhead and accent. While the former is very functional, the latter creates a more welcoming atmosphere that is inviting to guests during parties and holidays. In our Asian-inspired Old City condo, we added a sleek, minimalist pendant to add a warm glow.
Wallpaper
Whether you do one wall or have fun papering the whole room, wallpaper is a great way to give a powder room a whole new vibe. Because it’s a smaller space, many of our clients are more confident making a statement. We enjoyed selecting a unique pattern in our Wyndmoor powder room to reflect our clients’ love of details and favorite color: blue!
Artwork
Artwork is a fabulous way to add a touch of personality, no matter what your style. Do you love black and white photography? Add a trio of matted photos hung vertically on a narrow wall to create a sense of height. More of a modern, abstract fan? Bring some color into the space with fun prints. We like to hang artwork opposite the mirror when possible, to create both an illusion of larger space and a sense of balance.
