Inspiring design elements

When it comes to creating a design, sometimes we find that a space is inspired by a certain color, pattern, or finish.  Whether it’s a gorgeous custom tile or an existing wall color, some of our favorite projects were launched by these inspiring design elements!

Rittenhouse living room

When we saw the gorgeous Alexander McQueen Fire Monarch area rug that our clients planned to use in their living room, we knew this space would be a stunner.  The rich, vibrant colors in the handknotted silk rug invited us to imbue the design with a combination of tones, textures, and finishes.  From hammered brass lamps and patterned throw pillows to warm woods and sleek glass, the room is a chic and welcoming salon.

New Hope kitchen

In our New Hope kitchen, the stunning backsplash served as our inspo and focal point.  Crafted from custom-colored, hand-cut glass tiles that we sourced in NYC, the expanse of blues, whites, and grays influenced the selection of the leathered quartzite countertops as well as the slate floors and the paint color of the cabinetry in the adjacent butler’s pantry.

Fairmount living room

The question we’re most often asked about our Fairmount living room is “what is the paint color on the walls?”  The truth is that the color was chosen by the previous owners, and our clients liked it so much that we used it to create the palette for the rest of the space!  The softness of the blue allowed us to add glamorous touches like the ornate chandelier, brass and stone coffee table, and gilded mirror, with a mix of neutrals, blues, and greens in the fabrics and textiles.  We don’t know the exact brand or color as that info has been lost to time, but we do know that our clients love the space created around it.

Bryn Mawr family room

While we did an extensive renovation of the kitchen and breakfast room at our Bryn Mawr project, one thing the clients embraced was the decades-old family room window seat flanked by built-ins.  The home has picturesque gardens and that window offers the loveliest view, so we didn’t have to do much more than add a custom upholstered cushion.  With no need for window treatments, the room enjoys fantastic natural light that plays over a mix of blues with pops of dusky pink, reminiscent of the gardens themselves.
