New Hope

Deciding to take up full-time residence in their weekend home, our clients’ priority was to transform the outdated spaces to match their lifestyle and aesthetics. The first challenge was to open up the kitchen to the great room, creating a family-centric living area on the first floor. With a growing family, the two farmhouse sinks and dishwashers provide ample space for cooking, baking prep, and clean-up. A hand-cut glass backsplash tile in custom colors creates a statement focal point and was inspired by the blue-veined quartzite counters. The sunlit morning room opens to the kitchen for easy family dining. The reconfigured butler’s pantry features a one-of-a-kind reclaimed decorative panel from India and glass-fronted cabinets that add layers of interest. Along the back wall, floor to ceiling storage is easily accessible with a library ladder. The mudroom and laundry room were combined into a single functional yet sophisticated space. The mudroom has a combination of open and closed cabinetry and a center bench seat. We tailored the laundry area with generous cabinets for maximum storage and added a patterned cement tile backsplash to tie the countertops and floor together. Finally, the family’s beloved dog needed her own space, so we designed a custom dog crate fit for a queen with storage to hold all her important things.
