Laundry room love
The laundry room is possibly the most utilitarian space in the house, but that doesn’t mean it has to look that way! Can we be honest for a moment? If your laundry occupies a corner of the basement or garage, has dim lighting, and features a jumble of detergent bottles, lone socks, loose change, and assorted pocket finds on a wire shelf, you’re not going to want to spend time there. It’s likely a chore that do as infrequently as you can.
What if we told you that we can help you change that? We can.
Let’s talk laundry room design
One of our guiding design principles is creating spaces where everything feels exactly as it should be. This is especially important in rooms that need to work for you, like your laundry room. We utilize strategic space planning and a tailored design to achieve just that.
Plan it out
Just like a kitchen or bathroom, a laundry room has several moving parts to the design. If you’re renovating, our design has to take plumbing and electrical into account. Moving your washing machine, dryer, and utility sink might make sense for how you need to use the space, but could involve rerouting pipes, wiring, and possibly even gas lines. Clearances vary depending on whether you do a side by side or stack, We look at this not just from an aesthetic and practical perspective, but also what is underneath. It’s vital for us to get the foundations and unseen components right the first time to save you headaches down the road.
Speaking of usability, we also put a lot of thought into how the different elements work together. You want the things you use most frequently to be at your fingertips, like detergent, stain removers, and dryer sheets or balls. This means planning the location of shelving, cabinetry, surfaces, and accesssories in relation to your appliances. Do you want a countertop for folding laundry right out the dryer? Perhaps you have a lot of items that you prefer to hang or lay flat to dry; we can include a drying rack that collapses or folds away when not in use. If you need storage for an ironing board and iron, or a clothes steamer? We’ll add that in. Essentially, we create a seamlessly integrated space where everything is exactly right for you and your needs. If you can dream it, we can make it happen.
Bring in beauty
With that being said, we want functional spaces to be beautiful as well! Elements like color, lighting, and hardware change the laundry room from a space you hide behind a closed door to a room you don’t mind showing off. In the same way that you bring your personal style to your kitchen and bathroom, you should put your stamp on the laundry room. This adds a sense of cohesion and continuity with the rest of your home as well as making it feel like “you,” which is always our goal. Choose fun tile for the floor, bring in your favorite color to the walls, and even add plants and decor to make it feel more welcoming – all of this will give you that little click of satisfaction when you walk in the room!
