Meet the Designer: Michelle Leff
Up next in our “meet the designer” series, we’re featuring senior designer Michelle! She talks about why she loves her career in interior design, her favorite spaces to create, and what she enjoys most about being on the GSID team. Keep reading to meet the designer: Michelle!
Why did you choose a career in interior design?
I chose this career because it allows me to use all the different parts of my brain! I love being able to think creatively, logically, and functionally. In design, you have to not only consider the aesthetics of a space but also how it will function for the client. Sometimes, it takes a little extra “thinking outside of the box.” I have a passion for problem solving in creative ways, and interior design offers me the opportunity to channel this passion.
What would you say that you love most about being an interior designer?
My favorite part of being a designer is working in a constantly evolving, multi-faceted field. No two work days are ever the same, which makes my job so exciting and engaging. One day I might be in the studio reviewing selections with a client, and the next I’m on site checking on the progress on a completely different project. I also love being able to form personal relationships with our clients, vendors, and talented tradespeople!
Getting the measurements just right
How has your career carried over into other aspects of your life?
My career has definitely led me to become more meticulous and detail-oriented outside of the workplace. I also love visiting new places and being able to appreciate how beauty, form, and function play a role within those spaces.
If you had to pick a favorite space to design, what would it be and why?
My favorite spaces to design are living or lounge spaces. They allow for so much creativity – there is endless opportunity for different types and combinations of seating arrangements! Each time I design a living space, I challenge myself to create a layout that both blends beauty and function and is unique to the client.
