Our 2020 projects – looking back

Our 2020 projects came with a few more curveballs than expected.  Thanks to our team, our vendor partners, and our wonderful clients, our designs delivered the high standards and radiant livability that we promise each and every time.

As we bring the year to a close, we wanted to look back at some of those projects and share them with you.  A few are in the “sneak peek” stage, but you’ll see full photography in 2021!

That’s a wrap

Wrapping our projects is always bittersweet.  We’ve spent time creating the design concept and bringing it to life, and have worked so closely with our clients.  We consider the relationship between designer and client to be based in trust; inviting someone into your home or place of business is intimate, in a way.  At the project’s end, it’s a little sad to feel like we’re saying goodbye (and why we’re so happy when clients return!).  Here are a few fantastic projects that we wrapped this year.

Haddonfield Tasting Room

For the first satellite tasting room by William Heritage Winery in Haddonfield, we used clean, light, and natural elements.  The overall vibe is warm and inviting, and perfectly at home in the picturesque shopping and dining district.  Inside, wood, leather, velvet, and metal create a layered backdrop for the real stars of the show: the wine displays.

Center City home office

Our client came to us last winter with a specific request: a lovely, feminine home office where she would actually want to spend time.  Before this, she’d found the space so uninviting that she’d often go into work on the weekends to catch up on reading and correspondence!  Together with our custom woodworker, we designed a custom desk and built ins with shelving and cabinetry.  By the window, we created a lounge area with cozy seating and decorative lighting.  Pretty floral wallpaper envelops the room for a soft feeling. West Chester home

In West Chester, we transformed the entire first floor.  The kitchen was designed to have every convenience for cooking, baking, and storage while the adjacent light-filled breakfast room offers the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee and casual dinners.  They look forward to entertaining in the classically elegant living and dining rooms, but are certainly using the redesigned home office in the meantime.  Stay tuned to see our upcoming blog post about the project, including the cozy den, chic powder room, and bright and airy entry!

Trusting the process

While we were wrapping those projects, others progressed through the phases of our design process under unprecedented circumstances.  We would be remiss to not mention the dedication of our vendors and tradespeople as well as the flexibility and faith of our clients on these projects.  A little creativity, a lot of adaptability, and consistent teamwork kept our Chestnut Hill, Gladwyne, and New Hope projects moving forward.  If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve seen behind-the-scenes looks at these in process.  Here are a few sneak peeks!

Chestnut Hill

With construction wrapping up, we’ve loved seeing our vision come to life.  The newly reconfigured floor plans on the first and second floors feel exactly as we planned, and the details (especially the custom cabinetry, millwork, and tilework) are tailored to perfection.

Gladwyne

Our full house renovation in Gladwyne has been one of our all time favorites.  Transforming it into a beautiful, welcoming home for a family that grew from 3 to 4 this year was truly a joy.  Construction began just before the shutdown in March but we still were able to deliver on time!  This was a relief, as they needed to move from their small city condo to a much larger home to accommodate their needs.  We are so excited to share this project once it’s complete.

New Hope

New Hope is another GSID favorite.  Our clients really placed their trust in us to complete the design while they were living out of the area; in return, we delivered a gorgeous kitchen, butler’s pantry, mudroom/laundry room, and are putting the finishing touches on a killer home office.

Our 2020 projects definitely made us a stronger, more creative, more adaptable team and we look forward to what 2021 has in store for us!
