Our Chestnut Hill Reveal

Our Chestnut Hill reveal is here!  The main goal of this project was to create spaces for a family with young children who wanted a home tailored to their needs.  They’d moved into this gorgeous house with a very traditional style, but their personal aesthetic is a mix of old and new.  This guided our overall design concept, which included interesting and fun touches throughout!

One of the bedrooms is a designated playroom, which informed our selections.  After all, if you can’t do whimsical and airy in a space for kids to play and explore, where can you? Cheerful artwork above the sofa is bright and happy, with an end table for open storage and a safe place for the unique table lamp.  Even better, the sofa converts to a queen bed.  Our clients have frequent house guests and creating versatility in the room was a must.  We love multi-function spaces!

Speaking of cheerful, we selected this vibrant wallpaper with stylized clouds and bright birds in flight.  For an elevated touch, we wrapped the ceiling and inside of the closet.  It’s such a happy pattern!  Inside the closet, floating book rails offer a reading corner while a mirror hangs at the perfect height for playing dress up.

Meanwhile, the primary bedroom design was crafted with a restful feeling of sanctuary.  For our busy clients, this offers a serene space for quiet at the end of the day.  A palette of blues, pinks, and neutrals add a sense of softness.  Custom bed linens along with a tailored bench at the foot of the bed lend touches of sophistication.  The botanic-inspired chandelier with its silver leaf finish is a bit unexpected and playful, but with an elegance that fits beautifully with the overall design.

One specific request was the inclusion of a dedicated reading corner.  The comfortable armchair, roomy side table (perfect for a stack of books and beverage of choice), and chic floor lamp combine for a cozy and inviting space-within-a-space.

In the adjacent dressing room, vibrant colors create a contrast to the serenity of the bedroom.  This space had beautiful existing built-in wardrobe storage.  To make it feel more refined, we added a dressing table and chair, with an eclectic mirror above for contrast.  Finally, the custom ottoman with its bold magenta trim serves as a functional accent piece and ties into the energetic tones of the area rug.
