Our design studio expansion
If you follow our stories and reels on Instagram, you’ve probably seen our design studio expansion slowly taking shape! Today, we’re sharing even more about what’s in store for GSID as we move up (literally). We’re so excited to see this very special project come together!
Behind the scenes of our studio expansion
We love our current showroom and studio, although we have grown quite a bit since we moved into our space in December 2018. Luckily, the stars aligned and just as we found ourselves needing more room, the opportunity to rent the second floor of our building presented itself! Of course, we planned big changes.
Studio expansion plan
What was a collection of differently-themed escape rooms has been reconfigured into an open, shared workspace, two new quiet workstations (perfect for times when one of our team needs to take a call or really dig in and concentrate), and lots of material storage! We certainly need more space for our design library, because it’s such a big part of our internal design process and client presentations.
Speaking of internal meetings and client presentations, the studio expansion will give us the ability to have more dedicated spaces for these when the first floor conference room is in use. How much do you love these room boards?

The conference room overlooks Germantown Avenue and is such a light, bright space. Check out this in progress comparison:

We also had the opportunity to refinish the original hardwood floors throughout much of the space, just as we did during our first floor project. We love selecting just the right stain to enhance the original architectural details in a space, especially when it’s our own.

Just look at how gorgeous they turned out! This area will be our larger design space, located just outside of the quiet rooms (pictured in the header photo). Wait until you see the natural light in the big reveal.
