Our designers’ favorite fabrics

We love the designs that we create for our clients and how they reflect who they are.  It’s also fun to take a moment and check in with the GSID team about the design elements that they love and why; we get to take a peek into what makes them tick creatively!  With that being said, we wanted to learn about some of our designers’ favorite fabrics.  Discover their picks and let us know which you like best!

Our designers’ favorite fabrics

Carolyn – Interior Designer

“My favorite picks are both by Schumacher –  I love Exotic Butterfly and Citrus Garden.  I’m very passionate about and inspired by archival prints, especially those rooted in history.  Both of these have such a vibrant use of color, which enhances the stylized floral motif.  They would be so fun to work with in a variety of applications, from window treatments and upholstery to wallpaper and accent pillows.”

Jill – Senior Interior Designer

“I’m loving Schumacher’s Elkhart and Brimfield right now. Both are vintage blues that feel so summery to me.  Mark Alexander’s Kente in Fossil has a nubby feel and a subtle checkerboard pattern that’s classic and funky.  The three are soft and textural with a relaxed vibe.  Pulled all together, the combination of soft fabrics has me ready to go to my beach cottage and disappear for the summer!”  (Sounds like Jill is embracing her inner coastal grandmother in the best possible way!)

Erin – Design Assistant

“My first selection is Holland & Sherry’s Handsome Plaid in Rust Teal; I love the moody colors and cozy feeling, and this timeless pattern fits in any space. I paired it with the Woodley pattern from Schuyler Samperton Textiles, because it’s a really lovely antique floral with tones that balance the moodiness of the plaid.  I layered in Havana by Stout in Tigerlily to even out the darker shades and pull the brighter colors from the two patterns.  It ties the scheme together cohesively.”
