Our favorite coffee tables

Coffee tables have come a long way from your traditional wooden rectangle or chrome 1980s wonder.  (Remember when Miami Vice was an aesthetic?)  We work with amazing vendors to source coffee tables that are as unique as our clients, and we’re showcasing some of our favorites here!

How to choose a coffee table

When we design a living or family room for a client, we consider different coffee tables not only from a style-specific view.  Sourcing is also based on dimensions and shape to ensure that it is proportional to both the rest of the room’s furnishings and the room itself.  Having the most fabulous custom coffee table is far less fabulous when it overwhelms the sofa or sits sadly in the middle of the room, too far from the rest of the furniture.  Drawing out the space to scale and reviewing how different tables fit into that space ensures that we get it right the first time!  Then you can enjoy your beautiful new coffee table with family and friends.

Coffee tables we’re loving right now

We spotted this marble cutout coffee table at Las Vegas Market and have been thinking about it ever since.  The juxtaposition between the heft of the stone and the delicacy of the fretwork is definitely a showstopper!  This picture does not do it justice – it’s a must see in person.

The popularity of blue accents remains strong and we think it’s here to stay, which is why we love this oval coffee table.  Navy linen finished with clear lacquer adds a sleek look that really pops!

Gold and stone are the perfect pair to elevate any space; the trick is to find a combination that doesn’t go overboard.  This elegant, open design lends a touch of luxury while remaining neutral enough for a variety of palettes!

An all-time personal favorite is this custom coffee table designed for a client’s den.  We opted for a glass top because we wanted the architectural base to be a focal point.  What do you think, yay or nay?
