Performance fabrics for every space

Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to have light-colored upholstery with kids, pets, and guests?  The answer is yes, thanks to performance fabrics!  Even better, we used performance fabrics for much of the furniture in our design showroom so that our clients can see these magic fabrics for themselves!

So, what exactly are “performance fabrics”?

Performance fabrics are specifically made to be stain resistant or stain repellant, depending on the brand.  We’ve used Crypton, Sunbrella, and Revolution in our designs.  Performance fabrics come in a wide variety of colors and patterns, and we love that we can incorporate them into our clients’ homes so that they can truly LIVE in their homes!  Another great feature is how they feel to the touch, which is obviously important when it comes to getting comfy at home.  You might think that there would be a stiff or starchy feeling, but we choose fabrics that feel soft and natural, like this cozy sofa in our design showroom.  We also confess that we kind of like to hang out on it all day – stop by and try it out for yourself!

Where can I use them?

The short answer is: everywhere!  Performance fabrics are an obvious choice for kitchen and dining room chairs, banquettes, and stools, especially with children.  In that same vein, they work really well for family and rec room furniture, including pillows.  Even if your pets aren’t allowed on the furniture, do they listen when you’re not home?  Our dog sneaks up there when we aren’t home, and I’ve used my expert sleuthing to see her body prints on our cushions.  With our family of a dog and 2 kids, performance fabrics were the way to go.  Also, consider where you entertain.  Whether you gather in the living room, sunroom, basement, or patio, performance fabrics protect against food and beverage stains.  One last place I often recommend using them is on upholstered headboards when clients love the look of fabric headboards but are uber conscious of stains.
