Gladwyne

We redesigned this Gladwyne home for a couple who was moving from a Center City condo with their growing family with a focus on providing unique design details without compromising livability. With much more space, they requested a home that balanced family-friendly living areas with statement design elements throughout. We embraced color, subtle pattern, and texture to influence the moods of different rooms and worked to infuse contemporary elements throughout each space.

Areas typically used while entertaining, such as the dining room, powder rooms, and entryway feature “wow” moments through architectural layout, light fixtures, and the use of decorative wallpaper or bold color. High traffic areas such as the great room, kitchen, and breakfast room have neutral palettes, offering a more casual sense. Although more subtle, these areas each feature focal design elements that align with the overall project and aesthetic. At the end of the first floor is the home office/library that features a bold and vibrant paint choice from the floor up! For a family with very young children, it was important that this space was a stylish place for the adults to work that fosters happiness and creativity.

At the top of the second floor is the balcony, featuring various seating options and layers of pattern that provides a space for all to read, work, or simply take a moment to enjoy the views. At the end of the hall, the elevated primary suite offers sanctuary. Travel through the bedroom to the primary bathroom with a stop for a quick cappuccino at the custom coffee bar featuring a bold, jewel-toned metallic wallcovering. Continue onwards to draw a bath in the luxurious freestanding tub, or take a moment to freshen up at the vanity table. On the other side of the hall you will find the children’s bedrooms, designed to grow with them and support the development of the imagination!

Balancing livability and elevated design details throughout this project resulted in a beautiful, contemporary, and thoughtfully designed home for a lovely and stylish family. Our Gladwyne project is featured in the winter 2023 issue of national publication, Traditional Home Magazine. Take a look at how we decorated the home for the holidays here.
