Lamps that make a statement

Lamps obviously serve a utilitarian purpose, but we love using fun, sculputural designs to combine function with style!  Different shapes, materials, and heights can influence the feel of a space.  In smaller rooms, a cool lamp acts as both art and a focal point (like our client’s home office in the header photo).  In larger rooms, a pair of sculptural lamps work well as anchor points and help to define the room while enhancing the design.  Here are four fun designs that we’re loving right now!

Sculptural Statement Lamps

You might not think of lamps as art, but when they’re made up of interesting materials, lamps can have just as much impact as a sculpture.  Capiz shell and gold leaf are refined materials, but here they create a rough hewn feel.  The result is blocky without being bulky for those who like a squared style.

Much like mixed media art, lamps with combinations of shapes and materials provide visual and textural interest.  Here, the ceramic body’s gold patina has a play of color atop a gold leafed metal base in an Art Deco-inspired, geometric design.

We love a neutral yet interesting lamp in an otherwise colorful space to add an unexpected pop.  This ceramic design with irregular ridges has a glazed finish.  It feels organic and slightly rough, which makes it a cool addition to a polished room!

This burnished silver leaf lamp is one of our favorites, and we were thrilled to incorporate it into a client’s home office.  It functions as both art and a light source atop their custom storage cabinet.  The freeform, open design is airy while its width keeps it from feeling delicate.
