The Paper Princess: Return of the Wallcoverings

Spoiler Alert: We are in love with gorgeous wallpapers. It’s a thing and we’re okay with it.

Spoiler Alert, part 2: Expect a wall-oping number of puns in this post.

We invite you, Dear Reader, to join us on a jaw-dropping journey through some of our latest luscious applications of new but ever-timeless wallcoverings.

Generations ago, wall coverings were all the rage. They signaled opulence, provided eye candy or hid grime. Whatever the purpose, they were stunning. Books were written to their beauty.  A few decades back wallpapers made a resurgence sporting everything from mod graphics to European-style murals. What we are most happy to note here is that wallpapers are officially having another, maybe even more intense, moment. Color us delighted.

Belle of the Wall

Geometric wallpaper adorns the powder room of a recently remodeled home in Penn Valley

Today’s homeowners are spoiled for choice when it comes to wallpapers as exampled by the gorgeous geometrically-inspired abstract at the top of our post and the lattice-look offering we wrapped around every wall in the bathroom of a home we recently remodeled in Penn Valley. It is reported that guests linger in these spaces, wowed by textures and patterns. It’s even been suggested that both have shown up as backdrops in a selfie or two. We’re not surprised. These are star-worthy statement coverings.

Feature, Accent, and Quietly Elegant: The Wall-Stars

The wallcovering acts to pull all the elements of this sitting/music room together. From our Bucks County home renovation.

Some wallpapers step forward while others take a softer approach. To us, both are worthy of our attention. Take, for example, the sublime subtlety shown in the graphically-patterned wallpaper adding texture and visual appeal to a teen’s bedroom.

Timeless and completely on-point for today, the wallpaper brings interest and dimensionality to the bedroom.

Coolly calm and luxe to the max, we cocooned the primary bedroom in sumptuous silk wallpaper to create a quiet oasis for rest and renewal.

Silk wallcoverings have endured for centuries illustrating luxury, appealing to our senses with their visual texturing and tactile nature.

Making A Great Impression

Pro tip: go big. Wallpapers are meant to evoke emotion, induce a smile or create that “moment” in a space.

Bathrooms, especially powder rooms, are great spots to sport a spectacular wallpaper. We think the Impressionists would be wowed by this watercolor-like rendition of fabulous florals.

And who wouldn’t pause to take in the artistic, moody vibe of this stunning space?

Pick a paper you love and go for it. This space is testament to the power of the paper.

We would like to throw a little thanks to our friends at Thibaut and Phillip Jeffries. Both companies are great GSID partners. And to these photographers and stylists who brought these spaces to life for us:
