When to renovate your commercial space
Do you need to renovate your commercial space? In the day to day details of running a business, it can be easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. As a business owner myself, I certainly understand that. However, this is where your trusted interior designer comes in to help you answer that question! So, when should you renovate?
Launching a new service or product
One of the most exciting moments as a business owner is when you launch a new service or product. Timing that along with a newly-renovated commercial space accomplishes two goals. You’ll not only boost the signal of your launch, but also tell your customers that you’re serious about what you do. Our winery client’s decision to give a much-needed update to their tasting room in conjunction with updating their wine club and offering new wines (like rosé in a can – yes, that’s a thing!) sets the bar high above their competition.
Competitive advantage
When you notice your competition outperforming you, it’s a pretty sure sign that your space needs an overhaul. Look around; do things seem tired and worn? Take stock of your exterior areas and signage, because these are the first thing a client or customer will see when they pass by or approach your business. If people get a dated feeling from your premises, it can send a subconscious message that you don’t prioritize staying current.
Rebranding
Rebranding is a way of reinventing a business. A new look extends to the whole of your commercial space. No matter what your business is, your space reflects your values, mission, and brand. Working with an experienced interior designer will help you communicate the “new” you through both overall design and an attention to detail. When a client approached us about converting a former eatery into a farm-to-table bar and restaurant, we were thrilled. It involved redoing the entire layout and completely transforming it inside and out, but it was so worth it. The previously rundown space is now a thriving, modern spot with a locally-sourced menu and open, welcoming design.
Go with your gut
Sometimes you just know that it’s time to make a change. Think about how much time we spend at work; you should enjoy your surroundings. If you feel restless or bored, that might be a hint that you need to refresh your space. Try looking at it from your customers’ point of view, and if you aren’t sure, ask for their feedback. Here’s a secret: people love being asked their opinion. This is a great time to utilize your email list for a questionnaire or go with old fashioned comment cards. That feedback will give you an excellent jumping off point when you meet with your interior designer and outline the scope of your project!
