Four ways to add color to your home

One of our best tips for changing the mood or feeling of a room is to introduce a new color.  Small changes can make a big impact, and we have a few easy ways to add color to different spaces in your home!

How you can add color to your home

Wallpaper

Wallpaper will always be one of our favorite design elements, no matter where it is.  In a small space like a powder room, wallpaper makes a statement.  Whether you choose bold, bright, or soft hues, you’ll be amazed by the transformation a bit of color can create!

Fabric

When you want to add a dash of color, nothing is more versatile than using fabric.  Whether it’s a custom window treatment, an upholstered bench seat, or a pair of throw pillows, a little fabric can transform a space in a big way.  Mix solids with patterns, or even patterns with patterns for a really unique look.  If mixing patterns makes you nervous, then stick with patterns in the same color family, like we did in our Dresher living room  and you can’t go wrong!  Our client specifically requested a pop of orange that wouldn’t overpower the mostly neutral palette, so we designed drapery and an upholstered window seat that look fun in a polished way.

Artwork

Another great way to add a punch of color is through artwork, whether it’s a painting, print, sculpture, or other object.  You can mix and match pieces in different tones or make a bold statement with one large, colorful work.  The beauty of art is that there’s something for everyone!  We also love that art fits into every space, such as entries, common areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, and even hallways and alcoves.

Tile

Never underestimate what tile can do in a space.  You can brighten with fresh whites and buttery creams, soothe with soft greens and blues, or add a pop with rich jewel tones.  In our New Hope kitchen, the custom glass tile backsplash blends blues, grays, and whites that tie into the leathered quartzite countertops and painted cabinetry.  The result is a fabulous, luxe focal point!
