Dresher home

After purchasing their home, our clients came to us with a request for welcoming, beautiful living areas.  They described their aesthetic as comfortable and casual.  Since it’s their first home together, they wanted the design to blend their personalities.  They also enjoy entertaining and hosting, so that was a key factor in our selections.

The great room

The great room, pictured above, has not only large windows but also twin skylights that let in amazing natural light.  In order to make the large space feel relaxed and comfortable, we used patterns, shades of blue, and soft wood tones for a layered feel.  This helped make the fireplace seem less imposing, and a cozy reading corner anchors the windows.  Upholstered benches offer extra seating for guests and tuck easily against the wall when not in use.

One of our favorite design details involves the great room bar, which is built into a niche on the wall opposite the fireplace.  We selected a mirror to bounce light back into the room, while a picture light above provides illumination when the sun goes down.  In addition, we added a patterned wallcovering on the sides and top to make the bar feel complete.

The dining room

The dining room has a wide window that overlooks the large backyard, and we designed this space with a more sophisticated mood in mind.  A geometric linen wallcovering adds elegance along with the bronze sconces and chandelier.  The dining table and chairs are stylish in their simplicity and perfect for a dinner party.  On the wall above the sideboard, a textured mirror reflects more of that wonderful natural light.

The adjacent living room features a neutral palette where guests can settle in with drinks and appetizers before dinner.  It offers a quiet spot for our client to enjoy a book and a cup of coffee on the weekend, and has a more intimate vibe.  She requested pops of orange in this space, so we pulled in the warm tone in custom drapes and an upholstered window seat.

We enjoyed creating this new home for our clients so much, especially with the touches and details that really personalized it.  We hope that they enjoy it for many years to come!
