Bold color choices
Bold color choices are one of our favorite ways to evoke our clients’ personality and style in their spaces. While our designs focus on timelessness, adding in pops and washes of color puts a unique stamp on them. Whether it’s through patterns or solids, unexpected color is such a fun way to make a statement.
We used heirloom fabric for the sofa throw pillows in our Oreland living room, and pulled a rich burnt auburn from the pattern. Then, we selected a cozy velvet fabric in a similar hue for the accent chair. It anchors the space and rounds out the design beautifully, which was inspired by that very heirloom fabric.
Area rugs can add a dash of fabulous color. The vibrant hues of a modern area rug balance the historic built-ins in this West Chestnut Hill dressing room. The overall effect is feminine and strong against the crisp, clean white of the walls, millwork, and furniture.
You might know that we’re big fans of wallpaper’s wow factor. Pattern and color through wallpaper are great ways to make an impact in a small footprint, like a powder room. Our Rittenhouse powder room is proof of this with its spicy, earthy wallpaper. Our clients loved bold color throughout the home so this was a perfect choice for them!
Bold doesn’t always mean bright; sometimes it’s more about embracing a more dramatic mood. Our East Chestnut Hill clients wanted that moodiness for their home office, so we selected a smoky blue-gray for the walls and built-ins. It makes the room feel so luxe, and illustrates that paint selection is key to setting the tone in a space.
Accents are an easy way to add a colorful punch to a neutral space. Objects, art, and even functional elements like mirrors layered into a space add personality. Playful, pink-framed mirrors give this girls’ bathroom in Wyndmoor a dose of happy energy. Who wouldn’t smile at their reflection in these?
Tile is a fabulous way to demonstrate a bold color choice, and our New Hope kitchen backsplash is proof. We customized the colorway with shades of blue, white, and gray to echo the quartzite countertops and the result is a stunning focal point. It’s even one of our most-loved features on social media.
Which of these is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
