Console tables: Why we love them

Console tables are an underappreciated design element.  Why do we love them so much? They span a number of styles from traditional to industrial and have a versatility that doesn’t quit!

What can you do with console tables?

The beauty of a console table is that it works just as well in an entry as it does in a dining room.  It’s the perfect piece to anchor an otherwise empty wall without being bulky.  Do you need something with storage?  Several options have drawers or small cabinets that are ideal for keeping odds and ends out of sight.  The surface provides a place to display photographs, art, or flowers.

If you have an open plan home, a console table works well to separate spaces that might otherwise seem too large or have no clear definition.  This was a great solution for our client’s open plan, Center City condo and helped to define the dining and living rooms.

The metal accents on this slim and understated design add something special to an otherwise traditional look.  The classic wooden design gets a modern, unexpected pop from the bright metal accents.

Looking for stylish storage?  An open design with drawers is airy.  The softness of the walnut veneer contrasts beautifully with the inset glass top and square, brushed nickel drawer pulls.

If you prefer something sleek but interesting, a rich oak console with a waterfall edge and molded accents is just this side of modern without being stark.
