Our favorite neutral paint colors

One of the most frequent questions we’re asked is “What are your favorite neutral paint colors?”  It’s usually driven by one main factor: neutrals provide a great canvas.  You can express your personality and style through color and pattern in furnishings and accessories.  Of course, if you walk into your local paint store you can quickly become overwhelmed by the options for whites, creams, and grays.  We’re sharing some of our favorites with you so that you can see them in context, and not just as a a handful of swatches!

Sherwin-Williams White Flour

Whenever we share our West Chester entry on Instagram, commenters ask about the paint color!  The space is two stories with amazing natural light, so we selected White Flour for the walls and trim.  A slight warmth keeps it from reading too stark while still feeling fresh and bright.

Benjamin Moore Sea Salt

This is one of Andrea’s favorites, which you can see as a wall color in the photo of our Main Line entry at the top of this post.  It’s also the color we selected for the cabinetry in  our Lafayette Hill kitchen, which is painted with a furniture finish!  This soft, warm gray reminds us of cashmere with its richness, and elevates any room.

Benjamin Moore Cake Batter

It sounds delicious, and looks amazing in our West Chester den!  With just a hint of sunny warmth, it brightens up a space for a welcoming, come-in-and-sit-down vibe.  The walls really pop against the White Flour trim, and show that neutrals are anything but dull.

Sherwin-Williams Fleur de Sel and Benjamin Moore Pelican Gray

Our Villanova main bath is a double dose of fabulous neutrals.  The walls are Fleur de Sel, a light touch of gray that lends a serene air to the space.  The custom linen cabinet is Pelican Gray, slightly more saturated with hints of blue that picks up beautifully on the Calacatta marble floor tiles.  The combined effect is restful repose, which is exactly what our client asked for!

Which is your favorite?  Do you prefer warmer or cooler neutrals?
