Summer to fall

Even though the current temperature may not indicate it, it’s time to start transitioning our homes from summer to fall.  We’ve got four tips to help you get ahead so that you’re ready to greet fall and fully embrace sweater weather.

4 Tips To Get Your Home Fall Ready

1) Swap your bed linens

It seems like we shared our recommendations for getting your bed summer-ready just a few months ago, but now it’s time to switch again.  If any bed linens need to be dry cleaned, this is the perfect opportunity to do so.  Take your heavier duvet or comforter out of its storage bag so it has time to fluff up.  Pro tip: if the care label indicates that you can put it in the dryer, toss it on a heatless cycle with a few wool dryer balls and it will be good as new!

2) Tune up fall tones

Get into the seasonal mood by adding warm, earthy colors in accent pillows, throws, and decor.  Mix in darker metals and glass with vases, trays, and objects.  We love rich tones like camel, goldenrod, and bronze.  Added bonus: these hues are on-trend now so adding touches of them show your fashion and design savvy.

3) Add throws for a cozy touch

Yes, we mentioned throws in the previous paragraph, but we love them so much they get their own spot on the list.  Their versatility is unmatched, and they work in almost any space.  You probably think of them as a must for your family room and bedroom, but don’t forget anywhere else you might want a cozy moment, like your home office!

4) Bad weather calls for good planning

We don’t want to think about it, but the inevitable is coming: rain, mud, fallen leaves, and maybe even some early snow.  Beat the last minute “where did I leave my rain jacket?” scramble by pulling out jackets, scarves, and boots now.  You will thank yourself during the seasonal transition where it’s frosty when you leave the house in the morning and balmy in the afternoon.  Make a habit of having layers and outerwear in a designated spot and navigating the change of seasons will be much smoother for the whole family.
