GSID’s Top Five Blog Posts: 2022

5. Design trend: Coastal Grandmother

This past summer, the “coastal grandmother” trend took interior design and fashion by storm, propelled by TikTok and its cousin, Instagram Reels.  GSID has helped clients achieve this laidback luxury style in their homes for quite a while. We shared some easy ways to lean into embracing your inner Coastal Grandmother at home, and it’s no surprise that this topic was so popular.

4. Style your shelves like a pro

Did you know that our “how to” blogs are always among the most popular?  It’s no surprise that this one made the list.  If you follow our work, you’ve probably figured out that we love a great shelfie. Shelves offer handy storage in almost any room, from a kitchen to a home office, and allow you to make use of otherwise wasted space like corners. Changing up the contents is a great way to refresh the look, and we have some quick tips to style your shelves like a pro.

3. Design details: Mirrors

We’re all about the details.  As one of the most versatile elements in design, we’ve layered mirrors into spaces from entries to kitchens.  There’s the practical aspect of checking your appearance, of course, but they create fun focal points or accents to elevate a design as well.  Mirrors also enhance the effect of bouncing light throughout a room, which makes even narrow halls or small foyers seem bigger and brighter.

2. Philadelphia Style’s Dynamic Women

One of the high points of this past year was being included in the 2022 Philadelphia Style “Dynamic Women” issue!  As you may know, the GSID team is all women, and we strive to make it an environment where women lead, grow, and excel both professionally and personally.  Finding myself in this larger group of accomplished, driven women meant so much to me.  If you haven’t read it yet, I hope you’ll enjoy learning all about my fellow dynamic women!

1. Malvern kitchen and breakfast room reveal

When our clients first came to us, they felt strongly about redesigning the space into a warm, family-friendly spot to gather for meals and conversation. With two careers, school aged children, and a dog, they simply didn’t have the bandwidth to create and achieve that vision, which is where we came in.  This is one of our favorite transformations by far!
