High Point Market Spring 2018: Trends

We’re back from High Point Spring Market and here to recap the newest designs and trends!  We also got a read on what’s here for the long haul.  Check it out:

Fresh Trends for 2018

Green –  Speaking of fresh, green was big at Market.  From pale sage tones to deep forest hues, green is a fantastic way to bring color and contrast into your space in both furnishings and accent pieces.  These pillows from Ryan Studio offer beautiful options for adding a pop of green for your room.

Velvet – The trend of fabric on furniture has a focus on velvet.  We spied the luxe fabric on chairs, ottomans, benches, and sofas.  Most notably, velvet is appearing in rich colors to match its texture (especially green!).  Vanguard’s velvet sofa is so inviting.

Florals – Following fashion trends, floral prints are making a big comeback.  Saturated colors and interesting prints are everywhere from furniture and pillows to wallpaper and art. Large scale, graphic prints add punch and personality to any space from bedrooms to sunrooms. Not surprisingly, this one is mostly green!

1980s inspired design – Yes, the 1980s are coming back in subtle ways, but you don’t have to buy a crimper or legwarmers (unless you want to).   Ambella’s S-shaped, backless sofa was a fabulous example of eighties-inspired design, yet perfectly chic for 2018!

Here to Stay

Brass – We can say with confidence that brass isn’t going anywhere.  Our favorite ways to incorporate this luxe touch were on display in lighting at Visual Comfort and John-Richard, along with accents and hardware at Go Home, Interlude, and Flow Decor.

Swivel chairsSwivel chairs show no signs of slowing down and were popular at several showrooms.  Their versatility makes them such a fantastic fit for any space and style.  It was fun to see the different fabrics, patterns, and bases that put a twist on this classic.

Customized Living

Custom furniture – One of our favorite trends is the expansion of custom furniture options.  More and more lines offer a growing selection of options including finishes and silhouettes.  This allows us to offer our clients more choices when we work together to design spaces tailored to you and your lifestyle!
