Our favorite design inspo

People often wonder where we find the inspiration for our creativity, and the truth is that our team gets it from the same place as so many others!  Whether it’s a fun Instagram account, a design blog or site, or a good old-fashioned print publication, we’re sharing some of our favorite design inspo sources with you.

Ask the GSID team – where do you get your favorite design inspo?

Glenna, Principal – Traditional Home

Glenna’s instant selection was Traditional Home.  “I love Traditional Home for its emphasis on timeless, classic designs.  They bring an updated feel to what traditional living means today, with a continued sophistication and elegance.”  This focus on timelessness and elevated design speaks directly to the work that we create here at GSID, making it the perfect fit for our principal and CEO.

Vivian, Design Director – Atelier Vime

Vivian follows Atelier Vime on Instagram because, as she says, “it is capturing images of a place found only in my dreams.”  Scrolling through their feed transports you instantly to Provence, with each image more utterly, effortlessly chic than the last.  It’s impossible not to daydream now that she’s shared it with the rest of us!

Faith, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager – Business of Home

Faith reads Business of Home almost every day online; “I find it to be so useful for all aspects of the design industry, from how to structure a successful firm and create brand strategies to keeping up with the latest insider trends and innovations in design.”  For someone who balances both creative and operational sides in her role as the leader of the GSID marketing team, BOH is a natural choice for Faith!

Carolyn, Interior Designer – Architectural Digest

For Carolyn, her number one pick is Architectural Digest.  “AD is the industry standard, and I grew up with it on my parent’s coffee table so in a way it’s inspired me essentially my whole life. I consider it to be one of the top-tier design resources that showcases the highest echelon and caliber of interior design.”

Olivia, Social Media Marketing Manager – Pinterest

It’s no surprise that Olivia, our queen of social media, named Pinterest as her design inspo go-to.  “My favorite thing about Pinterest is that you can visit it without knowing exactly what you’re looking for and still find inspiration for something. Sometimes, I go on just to be inspired while other times I use it as a search engine for something specific. Some pins could be relating to one another, or they could be completely different – I never know what I might discover!”  Olivia especially enjoys using the platform for décor and outfit inspo, recipes, and marketing tips and tricks.

Lauren, Design Assistant – Life in a Dollhouse

Lauren, our resident grandmillenial, loves following Life in a Dollhouse on Instagram.  At only 15 years old, Ella creates “amazing, on-trend designs” in perfect miniature!  With the tiniest attention to detail, the posts on the Life in a Dollhouse account remind Lauren of what inspired her own love of design and career path.
