A note from Glenna

Dear Community,

We are all dealing with our own situations right now.  We are working and living in our homes more so than ever before.  We are trying to navigate our new normal day-by-day, sometimes hour-by-hour.  In my own personal situation, I’ve had time to reflect on what we do and why we do it, and why I am so passionate about the work we do.  Equally important is how we do it, by really getting to know our clients, and how they live and function in their homes.  And along the way, we develop friendships, and connections.  So much of what we do is about creating homes that strengthen connections to one another and ultimately enrich the human experience.  I believe in that so much that it’s part of our company’s culture statement.

Given these times, I have been reflecting even more than usual on our company and what we do.  If you are a past client, I am grateful that we’ve had the pleasure of working with you on making your house a beautiful space.  I hope you have been enjoying what we created.  If you are current client, connecting with you on our zoom calls this week has been the highlight of my week because at the end of the day, it all goes back to human connection. Thank you for placing your trust in us, especially during these times.  It’s a testament to our work that not one single project has been stopped or put on hold (from a design perspective).  If you aren’t a client and we haven’t had the opportunity to work with you, I sincerely hope we can in the future.  I would love to show you what the GSID team is all about.

In the past week, the full GSID team has transitioned to working remotely.  With our rock star team we’ve been able to move forward smoothly with all of our projects.  By utilizing Zoom video conferencing for daily team meetings, external client meetings, and vendor meetings we’re creating even more efficient processes, and we get to see some other human faces!  One thing that we didn’t expect is how much our clients are enjoying the virtual process; it’s made them more engaged and honestly, provides a welcome distraction and sense of productivity for them.  We’ve also been receiving feedback from our vendors that they’re able to offer additional discounts, so we are taking advantage of that and placing orders that give clients the best value for their money.  If you’ve ever thought about starting a new project with us, this is the time.

As a small business, we rely on our clients to keep the doors open.  As a small business, we are always adapting and innovating, and while this is a challenging time, we’re fully equipped to begin and continue moving projects forward.  In fact, we started 2 new projects just this past week.  I have always believed that home should be a sanctuary, and that is even more important now.  I read a quote this morning from Tony Robbins that seems very applicable: “Winter doesn’t last forever. Spring always follows. We will spring back to normal life, like we always do, like we’ve done for centuries.”

The GSID team is here for you, like we always are, like we always will be.

Warmly,
