Why you need a designer for your home office

Even before March 2020, we created home offices for clients.  However, over the past few years, having a dedicated home office has become a must for many as they move into permanent work-from-home roles or split their time with hybrid schedules.  If you are one of those people, here is why you need a designer for your home office!

Three key reasons to hire a designer for your home office

Space planning

Thoughtful space planning is a must in a home office, because it takes into account every decision from furniture placement to storage.  If you use two or three monitors with a docking station for your laptop, we’ll select or design a desk to accommodate that.  In addition, we consider details like cord management, storage for equipment like printers and extra cables, and even custom filing solutions for important documents.  We also factor in A/V needs, such as a wall-mounted TV if you need to cast to a larger screen or custom speakers for music if you need background noise while immersed in work.  We tailor your space to make you most productive!

Lighting

Lighting in a home office is key from both a functional and aesthetic standpoint.  With a combination of proper task and ambient lighting, we allow for visibility that isn’t harsh.  We design with flexibility in mind for different times of day, no matter the weather or season.  Another component of light control involves selecting window treatments that cut down on screen glare and give you relief from harsh summer midday rays or early winter sunsets.  Woven shades are an excellent choice, as are custom drapes and blinds.

Aesthetics

Last but definitely not least, the aesthetics of your home office are so important.  What vibe is most productive for you?  Do you work best in a fresh, bright space or do you prefer a moodier palette?  You should love your workspace; this will help you feel comfortable and energized.  Finally, we add unique accents, interesting rugs and lighting, and a killer Zoom background (like the trio of matted, framed photos in our West Chester home office) for a well-rounded design that fits your style like a glove.
